What are the benefits of Fish Oil?

Consuming the Omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA helps support a healthy heart. † The American Heart Association recommends that healthy Americans consume two servings of fatty fish per week 1 , providing about 1,750 -3,500 mg of DHA and EPA. This amount is equivalent to the daily intake of 250-500 mg of DHA and EPA, the critical omega-3s.†

Food Sources

EPA and DHA are found in fatty fish, like salmon, mackerel, anchovies and sardines. Alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) is another fatty acid found in flax, canola, soy, perilla, and walnut oils. At a low rate, our bodies can convert ALA into EPA and DHA.
