What is Spring Water?
Mountains are full of streams and rivulets, transporting rainfall and melting snow from the peaks into flood plains, plateaus, and valleys. The water that travels to these surface-level spaces is spring water, a definition codified by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as "[W]ater derived from an underground formation from which water flows naturally from the surface of the earth."
In order to be called natural spring water, suppliers must meet rigid standards set by the FDA.
